1) How would you feel if this was your group that was being treated like this?
2)$100 million was given to the native people to fix the residential school problems. $100 million was also given to the dwindling horse racing industry. Seem fair?
3) What are the difficulties facing the native people today?
4) 85% of Manitoba inmates are Native. Seem fair?
I love this country and do believeit is one of the best places in the world, which is why it really angers and confuses me to see the proverbial mothers and fathers of this nation, the natives being treated so horribly, it can actually be considered abuse. I 100 percent support that natives should not have to pay taxes or for educaiton beause of how they have been treated. First their land was taken away, then the little land that they have left is being used and abused, its just not fair and not right. Many natives are dying due to the conditions they live in, the government thinks a feeble 100 million dollars will fix everything but that will be far to little to make a big nescecarry change. I dont understand how so many people turn a blind eye to this issue, imagine being thrown out of your house, making another house, and then people trying to take evn more from you, thats how the native people are probably feeling for the last 150 years. The article below explains how our prime minister and his government has ignored and not cared at all for the native people of this land.. that is until he needs them for something....

Good post nick! i agree that the First Nations people of Canada are treated poorly and are not given adequate homes or land. I am doing my ISU on the water crisis and the number of natives that suffer from illnesses related to untreated water is very high. Natives are people just like everyone else in the world. In fact they were here before us so we should be thanking them and learning more about them, not the contrary.
Deletethis is such a good post! really interesting and i totally agree with you
DeleteGreat post Nick, I really liked your link too :)
DeleteI agree with all of you haha, they are all definitely treated with less respect than they deserve considering they were here first and helped pave the way for all of us. Great post
DeleteNice post Nick! I agree that we should be helping the Indian community live a safe and healthy life. At the same time, I think that instead of trying to financially compensate for the problem, we need to educate the people about their culture. This way we can understand it from their point of view., It would definitely show some respect towards them as well.
DeleteThat was a well writen post, I like it. I also agree that we have mistreated natives and have quite a bit of work to make it up. If that can ever be done.
