Week 17 - The last one...we made it!
| Nothing better than watching the sun go down in a quiet bay with your family and friends. Georgian Bay is simply Awesome in so many ways... and it is rightin our backyard! |
Well folks it's been fun, and a lot of work, having this blog but I think it gave you a pretty good example of what a post secondary class would look like and what a professor would be looking for.
This week is pretty simple. Find a picture of your favourite place(s) or favourite person(s) or favourite animal(s) or all of the above. Something that shows how great this world is and how beautiful and lucky we are to be on this Earth.
Remember to comment on two other people's pictures and I will too.

Monday's Pot Luck

Here is some information for the pot luck on Monday:
- I have the plates and forks, cups etc (but you might need a serving utensil)
- Bring a dish that is made of local foods (remember sugar, butter, flour will be exempt)
- Doesn't have to feed an army just enough for a sample
- Go to the farmers market Saturday, even just to get some ideas
- Reply to this post indicating what you are bringing
- Have lots of fun with it

16.4 Thai Coup, is that a type of food?
No its what's happening in Thailand right now as the military has ousted the prime minister and declared themselves in power. Pretty crazy that this seems to be a regular occurrence around the world right now. Elect a person into power, not like the way they are doing things, then oust them. Read and think:1) What if we don't like our provincial election results? What can we do?
2) Why is this happening all over the world?
3) How do these corrupt people get into power in the first place?
4) How is this going to end for the people in Thailand?

16.3 How far we have come?
In 1989 thousands of people got together to protest the Chinese government and try to institute democracy in their nation. Unfortunately, they were not successful and many people were killed.
Read and think;
1) How has things changed for the people of China?
3) Why was this day so important to the Chinese?
4) As China moves into being the top super power of the world what does their form of government and leadership prove to the rest of us? Should we adopt their way of ruling?

16.2 Ontario Votes
@kathleenwynn is NOT @kathleen_wynne
Two characters difference is causing a social media headache for a 24-year-old from D.C.
The Ontario election is next week and you will have the opportunity to vote in the student election on June 11th here at school. If you are 18 you will be able to vote for real so it is important to be informed.
Read and think:
1) Look up the party platforms. What party is the most inline with my beliefs?
2) Who will you vote for? Why? Is it different than your parents?
3) Who do you think Mr, Lahaie is going to vote for? Why?
4) How do you feel this election is going to change Ontario?

16.1 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
1) How could this benefit Canada?
2) Why is this important for the world?
3) What is the equivalent agency in Canada to the EPA? What is our policy on the environment?
4) Who could be held responsible if they don't meet their target level? What consequences would they face? http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/u-s-carbon-dioxide-limits-touted-by-epa-as-economically-wise-1.2661784
